We had a great conversation with Aspen Jacobsen on The Chris & Sandy Show. We talked about many things from family, music, sacrifices, she told some stories to a whole lot more! Click the play button to listen to the podcast!

As a young singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Aspen Jacobsen aspires to emotionally touch people through her lyrics and soulful voice. Her music has been described as Folk-pop, Alternative Country and Americana. 

 Aspen love for performing began as a toddler and from a young age she fell in love with live performance. Aside from music, Aspen has wide range of performance experience from professional theatre, opera, TV and competitive dance Aspen’s music career started at 9 years old, busking for tips singing pop songs with her little red ukulele. She earned enough money to purchase her first guitar and began writing her own music. After performing at Wheatland Music Festival’s open mic, Aspen was awarded a scholarship to study traditional Folk music. Through their continued support, she has learned flatpicking guitar and mandolin. She also plays a little slide guitar, fiddle, bass and piano. Aside from performing her original music, Aspen plays with Hawk’s and Owls String Band and spent several years as lead vocalist/bass for a rock band. 

Aspen has played major music festivals in Michigan including Arts Beats and Eats, Wheatland Music Festival, Earthworks Harvest Gathering and the Buttermilk Jamboree. She has also been an opener at Michigan’s premier listening rooms like The Ark, 20 Front Street, Trinity House and the Grand Rapids Listening Room. In 2019, Aspen was featured in the Radio DJ Showcase at the Folk Alliance Region Midwest annual conference. 

Aspen released her self-titled debut album in October 2018. Her latest album, Love Each Other Right, was released in November 2019. In 2020, two songs from her latest album were finalists in prominent songwriting competitions. The song “Georgia Boy” was one of five nominees in the Independent Music Awards; Alternative Country Best Song Category. Additionally, the song “Delicate Butterfly” was a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition Teen Category.

Aspen was also awarded a scholarship to attend the Singer-Songwriter program at the Interlochen Arts Academy, one of the most prestigious boarding fine arts high schools in the United States.  Aspen will be attending as a 15-year-old junior starting fall of 2020.
