We had a great conversation with BET star Mark McKinnon Entertainment on The Chris & Sandy Show.
We talked about many things from God, marriage, family, acting, sacrifices, he told some great stories to a whole lot more.
Mark McKinnon captivated audiences in his recent lead role within the BET Her film “The Waiting Room” (Oct 17th). BET Her is an initiative from BET Networks and MegaMind Media which includes four female-centric original short films. Directed by Sheryl Lee Ralph, “The Waiting Room” follows the lives of two women as they wait to hear if they have breast cancer and their journey after receiving the life-changing diagnosis. Pairing up with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), Mark dedicated this role to both his grandmother who died of breast cancer and father who died of prostate cancer. The film was selected for the 2020 American Black Film Festival, and features all stories written and directed by Black women.
Next up this year, Mark will be starring in the riveting drama film “The Available Wife” which is set to air on the UMC Network on December 17th and BET in early 2021. The film was directed by Jamal Hill, stars KJ Smith (Sistas, The Family Business), and was written in-part by Tressa Azarel Smallwood (BET’s All In), Terayle Hill (Deuces) and Kyjuan Cleveland. Within the film, Mark plays the role of a multi-million dollar record label executive – showcasing his versatility and range as an actor.
Mark can additionally be seen in recurring roles on Blue Bloods and FBI, as well as guest roles in shows such as The Blacklist, Gotham, and Veep. Earlier this year, the Head of the ABC Primetime Casting Office in New York and ABC Studio Executives, selected Mark to be a part of the cast of the 2020 ABC Discovers Showcase.
Growing up in Waldorf, MD, Mark spent his days dreaming of playing professional football. After landing the lead role in his high school play, he fell in love with the craft and shifted his goals to study Theatre Arts at the prestigious Howard University in Washington, DC. After graduation, Mark became the Founder and Head Acting Coach of McKinnon Acting Studio; an on-camera acting studio located in Prince George’s County, MD. His studio has coached and consulted hundreds of actors, and has helped them get in the best position to gain representation, get called in for auditions and book work in major markets such as New York, LA and Atlanta. His clients have booked Series Regular, Guest Star, and Co-Star roles on some of the top network, cable and streaming shows.
