We had a great conversation with Dancer, Choreographer, Producer and Influence Kent Boyd on The Chris & Sandy Show. We talked about so many things from his time on So You Think You Can Dance, to his life story, sacrifices, he told some really great stories to a whole lot more!
Boyd is best known as the runner up in season 7 of FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance. Following his success on the show, he has established himself as one of the premier dancers and choreographers in the industry. Boyd has worked with many notable artists including Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Vanessa Hudgens, Becky G, Vance Joy, All Time Low and Lauv to name a few. He also choreographed for the Billboard Music Awards, where he worked alongside Taylor Swift. Trained in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary and hip hop, Boyd serves as an instructor at Hollywood Vibe. He is also a member of Entity, an LA-based contemporary dance group. Boyd is also in high demand on the convention circuit and travels around the world sharing his knowledge with up and coming dancers.
Continuing his success on the small screen, Boyd starred as Rascal in Disney Channel’s smash hit Teen Beach franchise. The cast also included Garrett Clayton, Ross Lynch, Maia Mitchell, Jordan Fisher, Mollee Gray, Chrissie Fit and John DeLuca. Other television credits include a recurring role on Freeform’s Bunheads as well as guest appearances on Glee and Shake It Up.
Boyd is also making a name for himself as an influencer. His large social media presence includes a TikTok with over 272,000 followers and 3.3 million likes, a verified Instagram with almost 100,000 followers and a verified Twitter with over89,000 followers. Boyd teamed up with his Teen Beach co-stars Mollee Gray, Garrett Clayton and Mollee’s husband Jeka Jane to establish PridehouseLA, the first LGBTQ TikTok Content House. The House gained notoriety when Jojo Siwa came out in a TikTok video posted by PrideHouseLA. See a press piece from People Magazine here. The story went viral and PrideHouseLA was featured on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, among many other outlets. Other recent collaborators include Darren Criss, Derek Hough, tWitch, Allison Holker Boss and Todrick Hall to name just a few. The PrideHouse brand continues to expand with several ventures including their new podcast, Pride House LA, which aims to spotlight issues facing the LGBTQ community while also providing a space for listeners to share their coming out stories or discuss anything that is on their mind.
